About Michael:

Michael D. Jacobs is from Lake County
and for Lake County. He is the ideal candidate for
Lake County State's Attorney. He is independent, free
from conflicts of interest and dislikes wastefulness
in government. A person with his experience is needed
to bring about change and lead the Lake County State's
Attorney's Office.
Michael will draw on his twenty-one plus years of
experience as an Assistant State's Attorney in Cook
County to run an efficient State's Attorney's Office
which will seek justice on behalf of and for the people
of Lake County.
Michael has considerable experience not only as a
prosecutor, but also as an attorney who has successfully
represented the State's largest county in civil litigation.
As a prosecutor, Michael handled a wide variety of
matters including matters in the Illinois Supreme
and Appellate Courts. Moreover, he has successfully
tried all classes of cases, including homicide, sexual
assault and other serious offenses. Michael's experience
extends beyond the courtroom. Outside of the courtroom,
his skills in evaluating evidence helped lead to the
successful conviction of a female serial killer who
preyed upon senior citizens in the City of Chicago.
As a civil practice attorney, Michael has been involved
in many areas of great public importance. Michael's
expertise and knowledge of labor and civil rights
law helped shape a ruling that preserved the employment
rights of female correctional employees over the limited
privacy rights of pretrial detainees. In addition,
he has successfully argued to preserve prosecutorial
immunity, successfully defended the Sheriff of Cook
County in a lawsuit brought by an Indiana fireworks
dealer arguing that interstate commerce does not supersede
the rights of an individual state to preclude the
movement of contraband across state lines. Moreover,
as a proficient litigator, he has saved taxpayers
countless dollars in many civil proceedings.
Michael will work to ensure that our laws are enforced
in a manner that will protect our residents fairly
and justly.
